5/29/2023 0 Comments Coda maplewoodWent with the beer burger cheeseburger and was very happy with it. Was very hard to pick what I wanted from the menu. Time for a good restaurant/eating place to open up.Įxcellent food. Other than Lorenas theres no "good" place to eat in Maplewood. My wife ordered french fries (all 14 of them) & our bill was $11.00. I was going to eat something but changed my mind & had a soda. We were seated in the middle of the shop bur had to move coz it smelled of urine. This is a definite place to go to again.ĭark atmosphere with a bar that has "Just Ok Food" for a quick bite. Each meal came with skinny fries and mixed greens. So, so good! We had crab wrap, baha fish tacos and grilled shrimp tacos. The best thing is the food! We enjoyed every bite of our meal.started with the warm spinach salad with goat cheese, roasted squash, apple and almonds. The only bad thing in this restaurant is the noise level. I had ordered the Cuban sandwich and it was so dry it was like biting into saw dust. There was one waitress and one bartender to take care of our party of over 30 and also the rest of the restaurant. Even though the the booking was done well in advance when we got there no one there knew about the booking. We had a repast here after my Aunts funeral today. It has one of two liquor licenses allowed-currently-in town, which does much more to explain the weekend wait than the good but not great food. Its tries to straddle the line between family friendly restaurant (a financial must in this community) and sophisticated lounge and does a good job considering the confined space. Theyve recently removed the carpeting and the resulting scent of mildew which used to greet you at the door. Like cmon this is maplewood not Irvington you guys should not have creepy crawlies. THE BIGGEST HORROR while waiting for the rest of my party i saw a ROACH crawling in the dining room area of this place. Service was fair nothing horrible nothing spectacular. Its quite cramped you will push up against someone trying to get into your seat. Food taste like the cooks dont know what seasoning is. Had very nice dinners here before so will come back for a retry. Asked and got another piece which was equally dry, tasted just as stale. The desserts looked great but the banana bread (thick end piece) was very tough, and dry even in combination with the banana and ice cream. Steak sandwich was nice, though the 'sandwich' was very soggy, sliders were very dry. Waiter was very friendly, drink was watery and didn't taste any alcoho, mojito variation best stick with classics then trying to do the fancy cocktails. If this place had chosen to hire bartends and a manager with actual experience working a bar, then they would know how to simply engage the customer in brief conversation to quietly ensure their customers (and I hope that is how they think of people that walk into their establishment that way) sobriety. It seems that if you have nobody to talk to at the moment and become introspective in your own thoughts, that is taken as a sign of inebriation. If you have 3 beers then you are in danger of having the manager in front of you threatening to call the police. I often wonder if these could be corrected if they omitted a few items and focused on a smaller core of items. There are some really good items for appetizers as well as the main courses, but some items are missing the right flavor combinations. For a higher end restaurant, this is unnecessary regardless of how fresh the food is that is being prepared. The drinks are usually creative, and the beer and wine list is quite good. The restaurant is located on Maplewood Ave and has a nice appearance with the color palette and brick wall behind the bar. The restaurant has been a fixture in downtown Maplewood since opening in the summer of 2010.Maplewood is deserving of a fun, trendy bar and Coda is very close. Unfortunately, the second construction worker was dead on arrival."Ĭoda serves lunch and dinner, and it was not open at the time of the collapse.Įmergency construction crews were working to shore up the building so that investigators could safely get inside, and other shops on the strip were evacuated as a precaution. He is now being treated at University Hospital. "One of the construction workers was extricated by fire personnel. "There were two construction workers trapped," Maplewood Deputy Fire Chief Joe Callaghan said. One victim was pronounced dead at the scene, while the injured person was taken from the basement and rushed to the hospital. Three construction workers were inside at the time, removing sections of the structure in the basement when whatever they removed caused the first floor to collapse. 1 dead, 1 injured in Maplewood building collapse
